Spartan Born, Spartan Bred, Gonna be a Spartan till the day I’m Dead!

Strathmore Youth Football program was established in 1989 by Joe Vidrio. He wanted to help the High School Football Team grow and become successful program so what better way by developing young local athletes. He spent countless hours to help get the youth program running and raised funds to keep it alive. His hard work and dedication played a major role in helping Strathmore High School to become the first athletic program ever in Tulare County to win a state title in 2017.

Robert Garza and Rudy Ruiz had a huge role in keeping that dream to come true. The helped revamped the program from making the Strathmore Knights into the Strathmore Spartans. They brought in many motivated locals and prior players to established a dominate program. They had many successful teams by continuing on the philosophy that was brought in by High School Coach Jeremy Blackwell which was “Spartanism!”.

Spartanism is defined by a "devotion to the habits and qualities of the ancient Spartans".  It consists of an indomitable spirit, undaunted hardihood and stark simplicity.  Spartans were rigorously self-disciplined and also self-restrained.  They were courageous in the face of pain, danger or adversity.  However, they also remained frugal, austere and led simple, peaceful lives.  This organization would like to foster these iconic attributes by encouraging the youth of today to be strong in both MIND and BODY, thereby better able to avoid the temptations of peer-pressure, bullying or other potentially "bad behaviors".

We push to continue to keep these same standards and beliefs so we can encourage all local young athletes to take on the challenge. Do not just read about our success of the program but be a part of the history! Be the next State Championship Team!
